Piezoelectric transducers are embedded into AAM specimens in order to extract crucial information relative to the hardening process and the crack appearance. The early prospects on these issues have shown the great ability to monitor in real time the behaviour of concrete using these transducers. For AAM concrete applications, novel techniques have to be developed in order to give the opportunity to detect crack appearance in a changing material.

Concrete assessment with ultrasonic embedded transducers

  • Development of a specific acquisition system
  • Distinguish the effect of defects from the evolution of the AAM properties
  • Study of the moisture gradient inside the material
  • Innovative self-calibrating acoustic emission system
